New York Giants in a glance
The New York Giants were established in 1925 and immediately began playing in the then newly-formed NFL. From the beginning, the Giants attracted a large number of fans to their games due to their location in New York City and their early successful seasons. In their third season, the Giants won their first NFL championship. The 1930s were particularly successful for the team, with two more NFL championships in 1934 and 1938, and frequent appearances in championship games until 1946. In 1956, the Giants returned to the forefront, winning their last NFL championship with an exceptional team of players and future Hall of Famers, as well as a coaching staff led by head coach Jim Lee Howell and offensive coordinator Vince Lombardi. They would reach five more NFL championship games in the following years (1958, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1963), but were defeated in all of them. Since then, for seventeen years, the Giants did not make it to the playoffs, experiencing many poor seasons. Their resurgence in championships came in 1986 with Bill Parcells at the helm, winning their first Super Bowl, which they repeated in 1990, ending the San Francisco 49ers' streak. The Giants had many ups and downs in the following years, with a notable moment being their loss in the 2000 final. Their two most recent titles were in 2007 and 2011. The first time, the Giants defeated the ultimate favorite, the New England Patriots, who were undefeated until then in the season, and they won again against the Patriots four years later, in their last Super Bowl victory.
