Miami Dolphins in a glance

Four years before their entry into the newly formed NFL, the Miami Dolphins began their journey in the AFL, having been founded a year earlier in 1965 by a lawyer and a comedian, Joseph Robbie and Danny Thomas, respectively. Their early years in the NFL were highly successful, particularly in the early 1970s. In 1971, they reached the finals but were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys. However, the following year, they became the first team to achieve a perfect season with 14 wins, ultimately winning their first Super Bowl in franchise history. In 1973, they won their second and last title to date. They also became the first team to reach three consecutive Super Bowls. Throughout most of the 1980s, the Dolphins remained competitive with one of the greatest quarterbacks of the sport, Dan Marino, on their roster, reaching two more Super Bowls in 1982 and 1984. However, since the early 2000s, the team has not achieved significant success.
