Cleveland Browns in a glance

The Cleveland Browns were founded in 1944 by entrepreneur Arthur B. McBride and joined the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946, winning four consecutive championships with Paul Brown as head coach, before entering the NFL in 1950. They continued their success in the new league, winning three championships in the 1950s and their last NFL championship in 1964. From 1965 to 1995, they made the playoffs only 14 times. In 1996, a significant change came for the Cleveland Browns when then-owner Art Modell decided to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. However, he was required by the league to relinquish the name, history, colors, and records of the organization, which were then transferred to the newly established team in Cleveland in 1999. The new Cleveland Browns, created through an expansion draft in 1999, had challenging seasons with only a few glimpses of success. In fact, they became the second team, after the Detroit Lions, to complete a season without a win (2017). In recent years, the Browns are showing constant improvement, but without any major successes.
