Chicago Bears in a glance

The Chicago Bears were initially founded in 1919 as the Decatur Staleys by the Staley company in Decatur, Illinois, and later renamed the Chicago Bears in 1922 when the team moved to Chicago under the ownership of George Halas and Edward Sternaman. The Bears won their first NFL championship in 1921 (as the Chicago Staleys). They achieved success in the 1930s with two NFL championships in 1932 and 1933, and four championships in the 1940s (1940, 1941, 1943, 1946). After a period of decline, the Bears returned to success with an NFL championship in 1963. In the following years, they had limited playoff appearances. However, in 1984, they built an exceptional team and won the Super Bowl in 1985, bringing the title to the city of Chicago with a victory over the Patriots. This remains their latest championship, although the Bears remained competitive throughout the 1980s with sporadic playoff appearances in recent years.
