The Buffalo Bills were established in 1960 as one of the members of the newly formed AFL. They managed to achieve two consecutive AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. After the merger of the NFL and AFL, the Bills became one of the teams in the new league. Although they had periods of competitiveness, most notably in the early 1990s, they have not won the Super Bowl to this day. They also hold the unfortunate record of 17 consecutive years without making the playoffs (2000-2016). In recent years, particularly after the acquisition of Josh Allen, they are considered one of the top teams, but they have failed to progress to the AFC final, all but one time.
