Baltimore Ravens in a glance

The Baltimore Ravens emerged as a team in Baltimore when Cleveland Browns' owner Art Modell decided to relocate the franchise from Cleveland. Baltimore had previously applied to obtain a team when the Colts left their city in 1983 and moved to Indianapolis. In order for Modell to move the team, he agreed to leave all of the team's history, records, colors, and legacy in Cleveland for the replacement team that the NFL would bring to the city. This led to the formation of the Baltimore Ravens. In terms of on-field success, the Ravens are considered one of the most successful teams considering their relatively recent establishment. Although they initially struggled for three years, with the hiring of Bryan Billick, the team won the Super Bowl in 2000 and remained competitive with frequent playoff appearances in the following years. In 2012, they won the championship again in the final year of their iconic linebacker Ray Lewis, which is also their most recent championship to date.
