Atlanta Falcons in a glance

In 1965, the NFL decided to create its 15th team, and it was Atlanta's turn to finally have its own team, the Atlanta Falcons. Initially, the Falcons had some rough seasons, and it wasn't until 1971 that they had their first winning season with more wins than losses. In 1978, under head coach Leeman Bennett, the Falcons made their first playoff appearance, and they made it to the playoffs twice more by 1982. Since then, their playoff appearances were scarce until they reached their best season in 1998. With a new coach and some exceptional new players, they finished the regular season with a record of 14-2, made it to the playoffs, and reached the Super Bowl, but were defeated by the Denver Broncos. The next two decades showed that the Falcons had improved in many areas as an organization, with several good seasons. In fact, in 2016, they made it to the Super Bowl for the second time in their history, but were unable to overcome the obstacle of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, to whom they lost.
